good point, so when that is a little harder to check for a tech, why are so many guys cheating by long rodding and strokin' them out then.
the expense of a port and polish maybe? then i say buy a dremmel tool and a book? people should try reading once in a while.
i will say one of the best improvement i ever made was to just get rid of any little casting marks or nubs on the inside of one and smooth the seams to decrease the airflow turbulence inside the head as the air moves thru it. again, a dremmel style tool and a book works wonders.
