Posted by Lester on March 10, 2007, 3:29 pm I'll go ahead and make the assumption that I need to give it much more time... but what should I do to get him to take the small steps to build on? I'm not sure if I should be waiting a few steps ahead of him (to get him to move forward), or tug him at the collar, or even how to praise/not praise him during this process (since I don;t want to encourage this kind of fear)... any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
what should a new trainer do when he is trying to add a noise-making device (plastic bottle with metal christmas bells inside) to a pup's (going on 9 months old) training? My bulldog just hits the ground when he hears that bottle rattling behind him. Today was the first time that I've introduced this to him, but he tends to lie down when he feels overwhelmed with new weight as well (I'm pretty sure that those moments are my fault... probably added too much drag weight too fast).
