This is an update for those Geneva residents interested in the well project. As of 15-aug-2008, staff have inventoried 125 sites. We are focusing work in the town center area west of 1st St. where the fresh water lens reaches its greatest depth. We are also beginning to schedule time around Waccassa St. and E. Osceola Rd. where the salinity problems begin to surface along the NE flank of the Ridge. The District will also be collecting data from two areas of possible spring discharge in the NW corner of Lake Harney and a portion of the St. Johns River just north of that location. These two areas were identified using thermal imaging. I continue to enjoy conversations with many residents who are interested in the lens and the future of this unique resource.
