The flanks of the Geneva Hill are currently experiencing flooding that has reached levels above the tops of some wells along the shoreline of Lakes Harney and Jessup, and the St. Johns River. The inventory team will be shifting areas once the water levels decline to check for well problems and inventory the wells affected. If your well may be impacted, we recommend that you contact the Seminole County Health Dept. and obtain a sampling kit for bacteria. The District recommends that any wells with sanitary seals be disinfected and thoroughly pumped clean before using. Any Surficial screened wells may be impacted by the flooding depending on their construction. If you have questions about your well, please contact Charles or I at 407-659-4866/4842 or email us at cshirley@sjrwmd.com or jfrazee@sjrwmd.com for assistance. The inventory started up again last Friday in the area around 1st and 2nd St. We have just completed pulling all the available completion reports from historical files. When we inventory your well, we would be happy to provide a copy of your report if it is available. Charles and I appreciate the cooperative spirit witnessed by us in Geneva. It is encouraging to note how many citizens are aware of the Geneva Lens and how important it is to their water supply.
