I would like to answer this for the coaches. I spoke to Ron Lampers this week, neither he nor I had seen this board in quite a while so did not know anything about the rumors regarding the previous coaches "cancelling tournaments". this is what he told me:
Before he left for a fishing trip he had secured a spot at the Skagit Invite and the Premier Tournament and never cancelled them. He was in the process of evaluating what other tournaments to participate in and then found out he was no longer wanted as a coach in Monroe. He did inform Mr. Willie that he was working on the team schedule but that was before he learned of the coaching change. No one from the school ever contacted him regarding what he had scheduled and what he had been working on. He assumed Mr. Willie and Mr. Boyle picked it up as soon as Boyle was named the head coach and were scheduling what tournaments they wanted.
So please do not blame Ron Lampers or any of the previous coaches for lack of tournaments. That is the AD's job to make sure it all is on track after a sudden coaching change like what happened here.
No one; the previous coaches, nor anyone of our family wishes anything but good luck to all of you. We left for our reasons and we do not hold any malice or ill will to all those who are still part of the MHS wrestling program. It certainly is not the fault of any of the wrestlers as to what happened here.
