I don't know about buttermilk pie, but I live in Atlanta and we have a Lemon Buttermilk Chess Pie.
You need 1 1/2 cups sugar/ 1 tablespoon yellow cornmeal/ 1 tablespoon flour/ pinch of salt/ 4 eggs/ 1/3 cup melted butter/ 1 tablespoon lemon zest/ 1/3 cup lemon juice/ 1/2 cup buttermilk/ 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat an oven to 350 degrees. Then in a small mixing bowl, mix up the flour, cornmeal, sugar and salt. In another bowl, beat the eggsuntil lemon colored. Put the dry ingredients in and mix well. Add the butter, zest, lemon juice, buttermilk and vanilla and mix well. Pour the mixture into a frozen pie crust and bake until the top is golden brown and the pie has set about 35-40 minutes. I like to put lemon slices and powdered sugar on tp of mine, but the pie has to be really cool though.
: Does anyone have a good recipe for Buttermilk
