Hey Group,
A couple of interesting articles in yesterday’s Lowell Sun. “Wilmington likely facing housing woes in future” is one. Check out the numbers in this article and the quotes by Selectman Suzanne Sullivan. She said, “I think our quality of life is in jeopardy with all these 40Bs popping up” and “I moved to Wilmington to get away from dense congestion.” We need more people like her involved on our local government boards and all over the state. Second, “Dracut postpones vote on school on school budget,” they need to purchase modular classrooms for the high due to increased enrollment. Ask you’re self if 40B housing being crammed down Dracut’s, our town, and other town’s throats is adding to the school budget, along with other additional costs to all forms of a town’s infrastructure. Towns should be adding to the school budget to take care of the children of the taxpaying families of their community and be able to decide on the amount of housing allowed to be built. The problem most taxpayers don’t realize is the state has the power to hold back funds and if the town doesn’t meet state requirement on 40Bs they will force the proposed developments on the town. What is sad is the money they are holding back, is money paid to the state from the residents of these towns. Our town officials are being held hostage by the state to allow all this cluster housing destroy our “Quality of Life” that many of us work so hard or have worked so hard to enjoy. Beacon Hill needs to be reminded of where they get their funds from! Third, “A high for Lowe’s in Lowell,” the zoning board unanimously approved construction. I don’t mean to be the bearer of bad news for anyone who is opposed to having a Home Depot in the Billerica Mall but everyone needs to think about why these corporations want to build so many stores so close to each other. I’ll give everyone a hint, it is not to lose money, it’s because the state would like to turn this area into all concrete and hard top if we don’t stop them. So, Home Depot will not be going away they want their piece of the action. Billerica needs to return to the “Yankee Doodle” heritage many enjoy celebrating and are clueless to why they are celebrating it! It is time for all you Paul Reveres out there to sound the alarm and encourage membership in our group so we can attempt to influence all the elections in our town and all the local towns in hope of telling the state enough already! Food for Thought, why do we need a power plant in the area? Think about it.
Ed
