Hey group,
Billerica’s Conservation Commission meeting has been rescheduled to Mon. Night the 26th. I do agree it will be interesting how the Globe will present this Power Plant Proposal and how much time they spend on investigating the facts exposed from the Plants web site itself or the concern of the surrounding town’s people. Excellent job Judi alerting Rep. Miceli on the SO-CALLED Peaking Power Plant proposal, but what he and many other need to be made aware of is all the other possible negative effects not just the close proximity of the plant to the drinking water supply. I hope all parties you have alerted will take the time to review the factual information we have provided on our group site.
Our group along with other concerned citizens has submitted an abbreviated list of concerns to one of our selectman, who in return submitted these concerns to the Town Manager at a Selectmen’s meeting over a month ago. The Town Manger and the Board of Selectmen have been occupied with the budget and have not responded as of yet.
As far as the newspapers go, the Lowell Sun has printed multiple articles on the Power Plant Proposal. The Billerica Minuteman has also mentioned it, and unless you are a newspaper-hound, most people will not have given the proposal the recognition needed. I happy to see the Tewksbury Advocate looking in the matter, along with Tewksbury’s Selectman Cressman so that more residents of the area become aware of this proposal.
The unfortunate aspects of the proposal is many may not realize the importance of allowing such a major decision as a power plant relating to our communities and many in favor or indifferent do not have the ability to use critical thinking and just believe what the proponents of the project are feeding them in general information. Common sense should tell us that this SO-CALLED POWER PEAKING PLANT will not remain just a peaking plant for very long. Questions must be asked now not of only the people in power but of the candidates running for office in all our neighboring towns.
Ed
