I'm a neighbor of the power plant location, immediately downstream. I have been to one of the meetings that was held by the proponents and have been assured that all is well. The proponents suggested that we visit a sight in Bellingham, Ma to get an idea of what we are in for. We are told that the Bellingham sight is very much like the Billerica sight, ie. proximity to houses, neighbor acceptance. A few of us in the area took a ride to see the Bellingham facility and the area is nothing like the area here in Billerica. In fact one of the power plants in Bellingham has been shut down due to the high cost of fuel. So many things are wrong with this proposal, I don't know where to start. There is information provided by the proponents and makes for interesting reading when you consider that they are only going to dump 90 tons of particulate matter, the fine stuff that causes asthma, 94 tons of carbon monoxide, only 23 tons of sulfur dioxide, 46 tons of volatile organic compounds, 49 tons of oxides of nitrogen or NoX?, not too much lead though only .003 tons and the list goes on. This is what our good new neighbors are going to bring to the community in exchange for 480 megawatts of power that can easily be saved during peak times with a little thought involved.. The neighbors are looking for leadership and we are anxious to be involved
