Nothing personal Joe, reread your statements and look for the PS. I am tired and going to bed, but if you think the EPA or any

Hey Joe,
Looks like you stirred up some stimulating conversation. That is a
good thing. I wish I had the time to join in. Unfortunately I don't
have the time to chat on line. That is because of your term, [!!!!
FUD (Fear, Uncertainty,Doubt)!!!!] while many folks are having a
life whether it be from being out socializing, playing video games,
or visiting chat rooms, I research "Truthful Facts." I make strong
valid statements with cold hard facts and good old fashioned
American Common Sense to back up what I say! The problem is if you
take the time to read the amount of material I have and will be in
the future, and implement good old fashioned American Common Sense
you might find there is no fear, uncertainty or doubt surrounding
any issues or statements I make. Most of what I have said can be
backed up from reading the power plant site's own material! This is
not a personal attack on you or your patriotism, but the heated
discussions you generated force me to lose more of my valuable time
away from reading more of the material made available.
I am still open to hearing any positives which would change the
negatives about putting this power plant in our area, you may not
realize how extremely important this issue is. I think after
researching the material you have been sent from members our group
you might become a little bit more of a critical thinker and want
more answers just like we do. I will address a few of the points you
call FUD and would just like to clarify that the newspapers failed
to publish facts we supplied to validate what you call FUD!
Their plant is a "full time" power plant, not a peaking unit. Please
remember that for the proposed Billerica plant, the electricity
generated will be
expensive. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!
As anyone who uses natural gas to heat
their home knows, it is an expensive fuel. And diesel at $2.50+ a
gallon isn't a bargain either. They have to sell that electricity to
ISO NE. If they can't make a profit on the product they create, they
have no incentive to make that product. The only time they can do so
is at times of peak demand when the spot price of electricity is
high.
They're not going to run the plant just to "stick it to us"!!!!!!
statements as far as future development of the plant and what the
company operating the plant may choose to burn for fuel in the
future!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .
The plant owners do not have any more power than they had in the
beginning. The assessor and the plant owners both agree the building
and equipment are worth less now than they were 5 years ago because
the operational capacity of the plant was decreased, as clearly
stated
in the article. I'd like more information on the whole PILOT system.
Somehow I think it gives regular tax payers the short stick over the
long term.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here you answered and validated the question we raised about the
wonderful future income we are being told about, future expansion
and goes back to the accuracy about what people read in the
newspapers and I know I am dieing to see how the Billerica Minuteman
and the Tewksbury Advocate portray the proposal in their papers and
how much research and effort they will put into what they say. I am
sure Bellingham's paper was not allowed to print many other issues
their town should know
about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The town of Billerica has already made future contractual obligations
to its employees. These must be paid. Utility costs will increase
and must be paid. Pension costs are going up and must be paid. To
level-fund for any length of time in the future, you have to decrease
personnel, because the town is obligated to provide a certain level
of
pay and benefits. To keep the same number of employees or increase,
you need new growth and new sources of revenue. I would prefer this
to be a source other than the residents of this town. The other
option is to fire every single employee and outsource every town
function. That seems just a little harsh.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here you answer and validate the short term thinking process which
our town manager and the head of the DPW must now unfortunately deal
with, since they both have recently inherited the problem form their
predecessors short-term thinking. I hope they weren't friends of
yours and I don't wish to be-little them with the truth. Also, did
you notice how since this WONDERFUL SAVIOR TO THE TAXPAYERS AND
SAVIOR TO THE TOWN EMPLOYEES OF BELLINGHAM, "THEIR POWER PLANTS"
have caused their police department to lose three full time
positions on their force. IN TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS HERE I have had to
utilize our town services less than a handful of times, but when I
did need them THEIR REACTION TIME WAS INCREDIBLE (fire & police,
Ect. Ect.) and I for one do not wish to see that change due to
the "SHORT TERM THINKING" for a quick budget fix! That fact is in
the article I just didn't highlight it and was hoping someone would
pickup on it.
!!
Your Counterpoint # 4
The town of Billerica has had an overwhelming increase in costs, and
we don't have a power plant. Your associating two completely
different things here. Nowhere does the article make this relation.
To what specific drain do you refer? ?????????????
It's no more or less of a drain
than any other building that would provide an equivalent amount of
revenue???????????????????????????????????????????????????????
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those who do not look to history is destined to repeat the same
mistakes over and over again. You know like a dog chasing his tail.
When you have the time to look into the two issues I sent to you
today, and if you can come up with the hard concise facts on revenue
I personally requested from you today, you might just find the
answer to that last question and see how they are
associated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
answers I do feel that we will have the same concerns in the near
future if you put some time in to research and not believe what you
are being told. Until you take the time to answer those two specific
questions I sent to you then all I can say is "you are the one "full
of FUD" !!!!
Just a joke, sometimes a little can lighten a horrible reality'
Ed
other government agency has the staff or the money to make sure that
all is well at the so-called power peaking plant in Billerica, I
would love to live in your world! Again nothing personal, but think,
because I do not have the time to waste writing any more responses
to questions that have already been answered by the one asking them.
