Hey Group,
The format of tonight’s meeting did not meet my expectations of presenting two sides of the issue. I am sitting here wondering what happened to all the boards and all their members, and last but not least, the heads of all the departments were not in attendance! I don’t mean to sound skeptical, but I was under the impression we would have a chance to present all of our concerns to the members of town and now my suspicion level has been raised, due to my personal knowledge of what is known as “stalling tactics.” I feel right now that we need some constructive ideas relating to how we could possibly delay the EFSB from hearing or from approving the first step of the permitting process until the rest of the residents of our town and our surrounding towns are made aware of this proposal. We need to find out now what significance or weight the EFSB permit will have, in relation to if the town boards rejects this proposal will fighting this in a court of law be a waste of taxpayers time and money! For now my only suggestion is to write, call, or email the heads of all town boards and their members, along with our State and U.S. Senators and insist this process be stopped before the 24th hearing. One other way might be to get ready to collect signatures on an official petition to put the question on the ballot. (Maybe not only in this town). I am not sure, but I was told the town wanted the EFSB meeting to be held at town hall so it could be televised but now my suspicions are growing relating to the State EFSBoard does not seem to want the 24th meeting televised! BATV I am told will not be able to televise the Meeting from the Marshall Middle School. I will repost Selectman’s Lombardo’s letter and you can judge whether tonight meeting met the criteria. If you didn’t notice I did not even bother to speak because voicing only one concern when each concern has multiple issues connected to it, just makes the issue you were raising sound insignificant!!! The first thing I will do is call Sen. Kerry’s office and be animate that he is made aware of a fossil fueled plant being proposed in his state in our Valley and my concerns on how the process works, while he is debating Newt Gingrich in Washington on how wonderful his State is in promoting, NEW GREEN TECHNOLOGY!!! If we don’t hear back from him I will bet Conservative News Television and Radio would love to hear about it! Flood all the offices in our town and state immediately with a request for another meeting before the twenty fourth hearing for them to hear our concerns.

Re: Power Plant Proposal
Greetings All,
I'm writing in regards to an open mic speaker at our March 5th
meeting. Mr. David Johnson had requested that the town organize an
open meeting regarding the power plant proposal. I think this is a
very good idea and I'm going to ask that the Board vote to instruct
the town manager to coordinate a meeting or series of meetings with
the proponents of the project along with the appropriate town
department heads and various boards such as the Planning Board, ZBA,
Conservation, Board of Health, and all others relevant to this
proposal, prior to the permitting process. I would request that
this informational meeting be held in the town hall main auditorium
in the evening and that arrangements be made to have BATV broadcast
this meeting. I would also like the town manager to send a memo to
the appropriate surrounding communities to communicate an invitation
to attend this meeting.
I think it is important that the public feel like this project isn't
being "jammed down their throats" or is happening "quietly, behind
the scenes". There are a lot of questions and concerns that need
to be publicly addressed and we will be doing the community a
service with such a meeting or meetings.
I would like to kindly request that this be put on our next agenda
for a vote of the Board.
Thank you for you support on this matter. Don't hesitate to
contact me with any questions or concerns.
Best regards,
Marc Lombardo
