We at the Billerica Watchers Group will be Incorporating our crop as a nonprofit organization in the up coming weeks, but if you as a concerned citizen would like to join the website and engage in intelligent dialogue we encourage you to do so. The incorporation of members will be left up to each member’s personal decision to officially sign on, and anyone who participates in discussion will not be bound to in anyway unless they choose to be. So keep recieving emails and presenting your comments without any concern. The information and discussion contained on the group site is vital to the concerned citizens of our town and surrounding towns, well being, and is intended to stimulate the issues which seem to be left out from the public eye.
I am not saying this is being done intentionally, but intentional or not, the information pertains to the health, welfare, and best interests of the hard working families, along with the taxpayers of the Merrimack Valley as a whole, and not the best interests of the few individuals who don’t care about anybody but themselves, or innocently, do not have the time to stay informed enough to do so.
One example is in, Tuesday Nights EFSB meeting Local 103 electrical workers union was handing stickers and there to support the building of what claimed to be a safe and wonderful project. They spoke to me outside and told me they were going to show us how promoting this project is done. I hand them a card from the Billerica Watchers Group and shook my head. When the first few speakers from the concerned town’s officials spoke concern was raised. I stood with the union members at the rear and was not impressed by their one sided view, but do understand why they and everyone one else wants jobs.
When speakers from our town and group spoke some were still grumbling nonsense, but a few I noticed began to think about what one of our members had said. To put it briefly he made the accurate statement when he explained how 30% of the power today that is generated is lost due to the poor infrastructure and condition of the power lines. The importance of this fact is, the power plant will produce income for a few months and only very limited short-term job opportunity, if the power lines and infrastructure were up graded, the long term employment of these would men would be much more beneficial to them all. Sad to say most did not understand or care and were not from our area anyway.
I do hope that the few who took time to listen push the upgrading issue and they all have work, but as I said to one of their officials and said right to the audience, their is also jobs in installing wind and solar projects for them. Sorry for the ramble, but the power plant meeting will be shown on BATV this weekend in two part segments, due to their staff’s hard work.
