Posted by Ed on June 27, 2007, 12:21 pm CHELMSFORD -- In an effort to regain control of affordable-housing stock, selectmen have voted to support Walpole town officials. The Walpole Board of Selectmen has drafted a letter for state legislators requesting a moratorium on all 40B developments until the controversial law is reformed. Walpole asked Chelmsford officials to join a growing list of communities adding their stamp to the letter. More than 30 cities and towns have so far signed on. Hoping the rumblings are loud enough to shake up Beacon Hill, Chelmsford selectmen voted to endorse Walpole's letter, 4-0, with Pat Wojtas voting against it. Wojtas said there was no question that 40B needs revising, but she wasn't sure if Walpole's idea of affordable-housing reform was one that would also work for Chelmsford. I would be nice if Beacon Hill would wake up. I wonder how Wojtas earns a living?
