Dear Sue M. Boynton,
Jane Burns may not see your message on this site, but does post on the Billerica Watchers site and would like to see your comment at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BillericaWatchers/
Billerica Watchers is open to all opinions on all topics of interest relating to the Merrimack Valley. Joining the Yahoo site does not obligate you or anyone else to become active, but will allow you to post your opinions and we do not edit any comments or discourage anybody else’s point of view. You can join the group under any name you would like to use, leave your profile blank (just a name) if you wish, and no one will be investigating or monitoring your posts for marketing purposes like many Web Pages do. I am the moderator of the site, and your input would be very welcome. We do have members from other towns in the Merrimack Valley.
Our group has been seeking out the truth pertaining to the Billerica Project and the two proposed sites in Lowell. We are currently scheduled to appear in front of the Energy Facility Siting Board in South Boston on Oct. 23rd to voice our concerns about the affects of this proposal on our Valley as a whole. Money does talk, but the truth can prevail, and through many hours of Pro Bono work and with the many volunteers, we have fought for the right to speak at the hearings on the state level (this will be very difficult to stop just at the Town level.) Twenty three intervenors and our experts will be presenting testimony to the Board to dispute the Dog and Pony Show the proponents of this project will be putting on. This is 2007, and Clean Power is the Future, so we really do think we have a good chance to stop all this fossil fuel generating plant nonsense. I am glad you enjoyed the flyers we hung up, join in we can use all the assistance we can get. You also need to send a letter of concern to MEPA before Oct. 25th as to the adverse effects this plant will create, and request a public hearing on the proposal, so we can all voice our concerns on this very questionable project. Did I mention there is no emergency or need for these projects in our area in the near future, the only need, is for the proponents to walk away with a pocket full of money while we are stuck cleaning up the mess they leave for us.
Take Care,
Ed
