First I would personally and also from the group Thank Rep. Greene
and his staff, along with Selectman Lombardo for reading the Draft
Environmental Impact Report and other material and coming out
Publicly against these little "Permit Tweaking" so-called experts.
Littleton is looking for more water for their future and Billerica
is giving it away for peanuts, and endangering our supply.
The so-called experts are submitting river flow studies averaged
over the last 70 years to seek approval for the power plant. I have
been here 30 years and have watched the area overgrow. Does anybody
know what the population was in the 1930's in Billerica? I am sure
water use hasn't gone up any in 70 years, aren't you?
Read this article about Littleton looking for new water resources.
Look for the [Brackets] I inserted and please comment on how putting
500,000gal. of diesel fuel and 50,000gal of Aqueous Ammonia next to
the river is acceptable to any reasonable minded person!
Even better, lets build tanks for an unneeded power plant on
unstable soil like wetlands with underground streams which run
towards the Concord River, and maybe use some of that leftover
cement from the "Big Dig" to place the tanks on. Better yet let's
leave the plant unmaned so when a problem occurs some cheap, "Made
in China Circut" malfunctioning circut will set off an alarm which
may have some engineer drive over to the plant to see what went
wrong!
The proponents and their crew of "Permit Tweaking" so-called experts
refuse even conduct a "transmissivity test" which in simple terms
means, the rate which these toxins will flow through the soil when
the "Accidental leaks or spills occur!" The Concord River is on what
is called, the 303d list which means it can not be touched. So the
Town Officals (you kow the ones that will run out of here as soon as
there is any problems, due to not having any pride in, or long ties
with our town or valley)will have to allow the power plant people to
draw from either the Town Waste Treatment Plant or Municipal Water
System and will leave the Town of Billerica "holding the bag" if any
issues occur! The Concord River is also a US Navigational Waterway
and how much will it cost the Taxpayer's from the Federal Government
when there is a displacement of water isssue and there will be.
Don't you think the proponent's know that the results of many
studies which the proponent's refuse to conduct "Will Jeopardize
Their Project?" If you think for one second these folks care one bit
about our valley's safety or health you must be living in "La La
Land" or are too spineless to ask for the UnTweaked Truth. Maybe You
do not care if some folks sell out the Town and Valley, or are part
of the crew selling it out!
By the way DG Clean Power (a joke of a name) and Montgomery Energy
Power Partners are, "Limited Liability Corporations," which means if
any accidental occurrences happen, the Town of Billerica and its'
complacent (taxpaying)citizenry will be left to pay for correcting
anything that may occur. Not to mention, the hardships a spill or
accident will bestow on the whole Merrimack Valley, and come back to
Billerica in liability law suits.
Wake-Up Now!

Town eyes $200G for water well

LITTLETON -- [A train wreck. A car accident leaks a toxic chemical.]
These extreme incidents could [impact the water supply.]
With all of the town's public wells located near Interstate 495, the
Littleton Electric Light and Water Department (LELWD) is exploring
another option.
The Cobb Development, near the Acton border, has water-bearing land,
and the potential to supply public water.
On Monday, [residents will consider at Town Meeting to appropriate
$200,000 to develop the land as a possible water source.]
[If approved, LELWD will reimburse the town by water rates and fees,
said LELWD General Manager Savas Danos.] As a quasi-municipal agency
LELWD provides water and electricity to town residents and services
to the town, while making a payment to the town in lieu of taxes.
[The town owns conservation land] on the Cobb Development, off Nagog
Hill Road, while LELWD has easement rights to test six and 1/2
acres, surrounded by wetlands, on the property.
To test the land, LELWD would drill three wells to extract bedrock
water, and pump the wells for a month to test the water capacity.
If the wells are adequate, LELWD would need state approval and money
to develop the site, a process that could take up to five years,
Danos said.
["It's always a good idea to be looking into water resources down
the road," said Water Commissioner and Selectman Ivan Pagacik. "It's
making sure we have adequate resources to support the town."]
Danos said utilizing another water source on the other side of town
has ecological benefits, and creates a balance between the town's
water sheds at Beaver and Bennett Brooks and Nashoba Brook.
"It makes our environmental use of water much more sound," Danos
said.
Town Meeting is Monday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Middle School
Gymnasium at 55 Russell St.

We will all pay dearly if we don't Speak-up Now!
No Drama or Sensationalism here just Cold Hard Facts, backed up
facts right from the power plants proponents mouths.
If anyone is interested the Transcripts from the State Hearings they
will be made available by our intervenors and if you care to read
them you will be able to see how little they are really doing for
the Town and Valley. Plus, you may never look at another so-called
expert the same again. Do not get me wrong, there are some P.E.'s
out there who are up front and live by a code to protect the best
interest of the public (We found one,)but unfortunately the one's
working on this project are not. Don't take my word read some
documents!
To conclude, the members and many of the concerned citizens of
Billerica and the Valley have been contributing either money or time
to bring out the truth about this "Trojan Horse" of a proposal and
it will take much more time and funds to stop it! Our Members do not
get financially compensated and we are doing this because we "Think
Billerica and Our Valley is Worth Saving." Do you?
Please Help in any way you can,
Tahnk You All,
Ed
