Hey Everyone,
The Billerica Selectmen’s Meeting tonight was a success (for anyone who may watch it). All we can all hope for is that the Newspapers report the meetings and concerns in a fair and informative manner. Selectman Lombardo again did his homework, and whether you are for or against this project you have to think of it this way. A Selectman who is willing to educate himself on this degree over the power plant proposal, will be there to listen to your other concerns in the future. Must be an advantage of the youth and energy he has. Board Chairman Rosa did disagree with allowing our local air expert speak as did the rest of the board, but showed determination to have studies completed for the town to reference as this proposal snakes it’s way to the other Town Boards. He also made very clear his concerns over the water studies and how the Town would be held liable for damages to the Concord River. Good Job, and no hard feelings because he had cut me off when speaking (You could of gave me an extra minute Mike). In all fairness our other selectmen did come out with some decent questions, but it was obvious who did or made time to do their homework. Enough for tonight.
Take Care,
Ed
PS. I would like to comment on two points for all to consider:
First, We all have a passion to stop this power plant, but all Town’s Boards of Selectmen have much more on their plates than just one issue. In most towns the Selectmen receive very little compensation, and work all day at their own careers. When I arrived home at 11: 30 the Billerica Board was still there discussing the Town Budget.
Second, By Mike cutting me off at open mike, I did not have the chance to make this statement. All surrounding towns have the same budget issues and infrastructure problems as Billerica. If DG Limited Liability Co Power Polluters had approached any of the surrounding towns holding up a big carrot on the end of a stick which may help these budget issues go away, we all may be standing in front of your town boards helping you fight this problem! Just think about all the prop. 2 1/2 budget overrides we keep reading about.
Right Now the Billerica Watchers Group may be asking for your help, but do not be surprised if in the future you may be asking us for the same! http://stopthebillericapowerplant.org/
