However, he did very well during his photo shoot, and seems to love attention. He just needs someone who will go slowly with him. He is friendly and quiet. The shelter thinks I am about 1 year and 6 months old. I have been at the shelter since Jan 03, 2008. Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal: My name is Chewy and before you walk on by and don't consider me, think about this.... shelters get a lot of chow chow mixes and people tend to ignore them because of the reputation of chows. But know this, I am a mix and I am truly a great dog. While you're reading this, I'm probably wagging my tail and getting all excited and happy that someone is paying attention to me. This is how I am. I am very cute and silly and just love people. I even like dogs too. I would be GREAT with kids and given the opportunity to shine in a loving home, I will be nothing but a great companion. I'm still young so a lot about me reflects that I'm young. Per the nature of chow chow mixes, I am loyal and protective, but that doesn't mean I am a guard dog or belong in a yard. I am a family dog and hope that someone will see this in me. Staff wants everyone to know to look past my outer appearance and consider my personality, which is really wonderful.
