Posted by Orden on January 13, 2008, 5:38 am The sky rumbles threateningly above, low, dusky clouds pressing ominously upon the horizon. Flashes of lightning sear the air, crashing upon the earth with disturbing frequency. There is an air of unnaturalness about the approaching storm, as though it simply shouldn't be. Just minutes earlier the sky had been a brilliant blue, the sun beaming down upon the fresh spring-blooming earth. Now the air is heavy and charged with energy and it pricks at your damp skin incessantly, as though attempting to incite you to some sort of violence. The atmosphere is malicious, the still air seeming angry. Orden

In the distance there are flashes of light, but these are not simple lightning. Bursts of red and white burn into your mind, their after-images displayed upon the insides of your eyelids, ghastly neon-ghosts. Nothing about this is normal. Nothing seems right or good. Something bad is happening, the angry air whispers. Something beautifully, deliciously, frantically horrific and it calls to you, delving into your heart and bringing your darkest desires, fears and lusts bubbling to the surface. Your pulse leaps, racing along as adrenaline pumps through your taught body. You are bursting with energy, impatience and strange sort of fear. You want to know what it is that is calling to your blood, drawing you ever nearer to those strange flashes of light. You steps become swifter, hooves digging into the fertile soil as you break into a trot, then a canter as your need grows, until you are galloping as fast as your legs will carry you, towards the looming forest.
You are almost there, and you think your heart could burst, the emotion within your breast is so intense. You slow to a walk, something deep within the most instinctual recesses of your mind telling you not to rush headlong into whatever is happening beyond the treeline. You cautiously move forwards, trying to restrain your incessant impatience. Through the branches you see others, dancing a sort of lethal dance, hooves clashing, teeth snapping, and fire flashing about, trees burning without producing smoke. The earth ripples beneath your hooves, and you scramble desperately, not knowing what is going on. There is a flash of white-blue light and you feel as though all your nerves are on fire, your blood freezing in place. Your body falls to the ground with a horrible, final thud. Darkness floods your vision, the pain fades to a distant throb, and you are falling into nothingness.
