In the 1970's, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was plagued by certain misfortunes. Lord Voldemort was steadily rising in power, leading Hogwarts' headmaster Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore to create The Order of the Phoenix. The ideals that led both Voldemort and Dumbledore were reflected in the school, when the tension between Slytherins and Gryffindors (or, Slytherins and the rest of the school) were greater than ever. Blood status was becoming a huge issue and causing some students to break ties with some and create ties with others. Hogwarts was preparing for the first war - the war that would shape the future of their world.

In 1975, a group of people who would have a profound impact on these future events were still students at Hogwarts. In Slytherin, students such as Lucius Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange, and Severus Snape were preparing themselves for their roles as prominent Death Eaters later on. Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw boasted students whose contributions to the war would both hinder the enemy, and radically change their own lives: Frank Longbottom, Alice Henry, and Fabian and Gideon Prewett, among others. And in Gryffindor, five students who would have a profound impact on the future of the Wizarding world were developing relationships, learning advanced magic, and creating a substantial amount of mischief: Sirius Black, Lily Evens, Peter Pettigrew, James Potter, and Remus Lupin.

This is the story of all these students, and all those who lived during the first war, when the Dark Lord was vanquished, but not entirely.
