Posted by Eva Hart Please see February 27, 2007 post and story of Jolo Island on southernmost Philippines. This is a story of how another approach is used to subdue Jolo Island. The "policy of attraction" is where the Americans tried to subdue this island peacefully. One concession was to tolerate slavery which in the end the Wife of Moslem Sultan as token of gratitude to Americans abolishes this awful practice. If we try to understand and have patience with other peoples' customs and habits, then we can make changes peacefully, not use War. Just because people are different does not mean they are cruel and need to die or be sanctioned. We must try kindness and understanding and tolerace because as you see good results came about. From the meadows,from the valleys,from the lakes and fijords to America's beautiful shores the essence of PEACE no more wars!
