Having served in Desert Storm and in the military for 20 yrs, I can tell you that we are NOT, repeat NOT in violation of the four Geneva Conventions with respect to the treatment of terrorist prisoners. The Conventions outline specifically what defines a combatant of war, and these terrorists do not in fact, warrant protection under these statutes. Furthermore, Amnesty International, The International Red Cross, the United Nations delegations and the media have been granted access to these terrorists and have ALL agreed that these prisoners are not being tortured in violation of the Geneva Conventions. Furthermore, we treat terrorists better than they have treated ANY of their captives (i.e. we do not behead, maim or physically torture) as claimed by some people who a) have NEVER served in the military, and b) have NOT been to Iraq and Guantanamo Bay and have NO clue as to how combat and prisoners are affected. Incidentally, the procedures are outlined in the Articles adopted on 12 Aug 1949 and put in force 21 Oct 1950, Article 4 of Part 1...check it out.
