Posted by Sabrina Eaton Since the program was launched in 1999, it has given more than $15 million to seven different institutions, including Cincinnati's National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Kucinich's office said. "This program sheds light on one of the most important and courageous social movements in history while preserving and interpreting artifacts from this critical era," Kucinich said. Kucinich's bill was adopted Monday in a noncontroversial voice vote. Its Ohio cosponsors included Cleveland Democrat Stephanie Tubbs Jones and Miami Township Republican Jean Schmidt. In the U.S. Senate, Ohio Democrat Sherrod Brown has introduced a similar measure with cosponorship from Ohio GOP Sen. George Voinovich.
