“For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” (1 Pet. 2.25)
Peter compared Christians to sheep and sheep are gentle animals. We, like sheep, are to be a gentle people. We all know people who have a meek and gentle spirit that is so obvious when we are around them. They are the ones who have a mildness combined with a tender disposition.
Our Lord had a gentle spirit. (Mt. 11.28-30) We help other Christians by showing a gentle spirit. (Gal. 6.1) Husbands and wives should have that respectful gentle spirit that we observe in all good marriages. ( 1 Pet. 3.1-4)
My lovely mentor, Bernice Railsback, told me once, “Curtis, nothing is so strong as gentleness, and nothing so gentle as real strength.” She said it. I believe it. She should know! I saw her practice it in her classroom every day.
How about it, Lobos?! I am convinced that we can show some gentleness to someone we love, today. Try it. I betcha it will be returned to you a hundredfold.
Y’all read ‘em, now, ye hear?!
