Joe Henry Thompson

Sudie Mae Bullock Thompson, 97, passed away September 19, 2008 at her home in Ajax, La. She was the oldest daughter of Uber and Ella Bullock of Ajax. Services were at Blanchard Funeral Home in Natchitoches, La., and burial was in the Ajax Cemetery.
Her husband, Joe Henry Thompson, 99, died a few days earlier on August 27, 2008 and was also buried in Ajax. Sudie and Joe were married for seventy years. They were preceded in death by a son, Joe Thompson, Jr., who died at age 18 in a plane crash in 1963 near Levelland.
Sudie is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Marsene Bullock Powell Beattie of Denver City; Grace Bullock Gentry of Natchitoches, La.; U.S. Bullock, Jr. of Natchitoches, La., formerly of Denver City and Brownfield; and Jerry Dean Bullock of Houston. They are survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, A.O. Bullock of Casper, Wyo.; William J. Bullock of Natchitoches, La.; John W. Bullock of Wimberley; and Ernest W. Bullock of Sherman, formerly of Denver City and Odessa.
Joe Henry was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Thompson and Doug Thompson.
Sudie and Joe lived many years in Levelland where she taught Home Economics and Joe worked for Amoco Oil Company. They moved to Plains in 1963 where she worked many years with the Agricultural Extension Service of Yoakum County. Sudie and Joe were well known to many in the West Texas area and were admired and loved by all who knew them.
