That's a great story! I only wish it came with a little less agony...
: There was a bride last year, she picked stuff
: from the Suhaag magazine, the tops of the
: arms were the hornblowers. It was a long
: job and we sat on the floor for it, which
: threw my back out by the next day. But the
: result of that night was the best...until
: last week.
:
: Last fall a woman contacted me to do her
: daughter's bridal mehendi. Her daughter was
: getting married in the Seattle area but she
: lives in LA. So we playeed tag for several
: months trying to get something arranged. At
: one point the mom just said to reserve the
: date for them. So finally all the planets
: aligned and a date was found that she was
: here and I wasn't book and we made the date
: for the consultation. A few days before the
: consult my mother-in-law passed away. I was
: on my way to the funeral when I stopped for
: the consult. I mentioned this to them, and
: they said "oh we could have
: rescheduled" and my reply way "oh
: no we coulnd't have, took months for this
: already". so while I was there for the
: consult, my husband ran over across town to
: get his little brother. they got stuck in
: traffic and were an hour late picking me up,
: but the bride and her mother were very
: gracious while I sat there. So last week
: the big day arrives. I have to leave my
: house around 11am to make it to the
: appointment at 1. So early in the morning
: my son wanted a ride to school. I just woke
: up, hair askew, grabbed the younger son and
: with the oldest we pile into the Jeep. No
: shoes, no cell phone and in our jammies.
: The school is less than 2 miles away. We
: pull into the parking lot and the radiator
: blew. It took me 30 minutes to limp home
: (all downhill too). I had to stop twice to
: let the engine cool down. I get home
: finally and call my husband to come home.
: We live across the street from where he
: works, very luckily. It's the radiator for
: sure, but it can be fixed easily if there's
: a radiator in stock.
: In the meantime it's determined that I need
: to drive the '79 Suburban. It's loud, it's
: dinged up, it's a gas hog, but it's
: reliable. It's also awaiting a trip to the
: dump and is full of garbage including our
: old mattress and box springs. Well I cannot
: drive this to the ritzy neighborhood like
: that....lol.
: So hubby and oldest son go do the dump run.
: And because we live on an island we have to
: cross a bridge to go to the mainland. 1
: mile into the mainland there was a fatal
: accident and traffic was crawling. So they
: were 20 minutes late getting back.
: FINALLY I can get on the road, by now
: traffic is at a complete standstill. I had
: to take a 20 mile detour. I'll be an hour
: late to the appointment.
:
: I finally get there. The henna finally gets
: done and after all those obsticles I feel it
: was fantastic! It was the hardest to get
: to, but so far the turned out the best.
:
: The party was great too, first time this
: season the mehendi night was held outdoors
: in tents (which is what I see more often in
: California).

: What's the best henna you've ever done, and
: why? Please post pictures, stories, etc...
: It could be the best technically, or the
: most meaningful, or the best client... I'm
: looking forward to seeing the best of the
: best!
