Posted by MagicalMehendi so what is the worst thing I could do...well the worst would probalby be to used dead henna. but here's a close second...... I was supposed to be there noon-6 to do the bride and her sister. I arrived at 2:45 (traffic made me late for the 2:30 time I thought I was supposed to be there). Still....when I left, I thought the mother wanted to slap me. lesson learned. and I'll post pix later today in flickr.

holy moly. I had 2 brides last week and still have 5 more to go this monthi (3 of them this week).
I got the times mixed up.
!!!!!
!!!!!
The 3 aunties and mother of the bride met me at he door and were very upset. "you are late, you are very late". Then the mum starts telling me "I've been calling you all day, your phone is disconnected" The sister is upset telling another auntie that "there won't be time for my henna".
Well my phone isn't disconnected. She didn't have my phone numbers correct. Matter of fact they were so incorrect I've no idea who's they were (and they weren't the person who had given me the job's either!).
I was mortified. I looked at the wrong date. I screwed up and these people were openly pissed off at me. Although the bride was fine. ?!?!!
But, I started on the bride, who wasn't getting the full up the arm/midshin deal. I did 1.5 feet before we left for her 'trial hair' appointment. I followed her to the hair appointment and while there I finished the other foot and both sides of one hand. Then I followed her to the rental house where the party was taking place later that night. She changed, we tried 3 different places to sit before finding the correct one. I finished her other hand. Got her all sealed up and she went out to her party. I went and got her sister and made her come upstairs for mehendi. She was in the midst of being a dutiful neice helping family. I got her upstairs and did her mehendi.
Finished her just before 8:30 (so my 6 hour job was right on tme...just a different time...lol). I finished in 6 hours, and considering I started about 3 and we had 2 car rides that totalled 30 minutes, and I had to wait another 20 when getting to the house...I was under time.
I stayed a little longer and did the groom's 2 sisters and his mother (who all picked the same kind of pattern). It was a mixed marriage, she Indian, he caucasian. The grooms family was completely and sincerely nice to me.
And even though I was very late, I pulled it off. I even think it was better this way as I didn't have the auntie militia over my shoulder (the pattern had to be approved by the 3 aunts).215
