As many of you know a Jambalaya Dinner has been held in Forest each May benefiting the Marion B Whatley Memorial Scholarship Fund for Forest High School. This fundraiser, with the support of Scott County residents and Bearcat alums, has allowed us to fund three scholarships thus far.
It is with regret that I must announce we will no longer continue this annual jambalaya dinner. The flood of 2016 impacted myself and the cook. Due to the loss of the cook and the amount of time it entails to host this event it is no longer possible for me to coordinate the jambalaya dinner.
However, the awarding of the $1000.00 scholarship to a deserving FHS graduating senior will continue for years to come. I have arranged for a $500 donation each year to keep it partially funded. I would like to encourage everyone to continue their support. A donation of $20 or $25 will allow this scholarship to be awarded for many years to come. Any donation big or small is appreciated and will allow this scholarship to continue.
Please make your donation payable to the Marion B Whatley Memorial Scholarship Fund. You may mail the funds to me at the below address or you may bring your donation to the Bank of Forest.
Thank you again for the help and support that you have given over the past three years.
Looking forward to seeing you at the NABS Party on July 21.
