Marler Auto was located on the north-east corner of Hwy 35 and Highway 80 (also known as West Third Street) where the Cox Chevron Service Station and The Tractor Store are presently located. It also included the land behind the Cox Chevron Service station that is now the (Olive Patch ?) restaurant. Marler Auto was directly across the street from the present-day Home Hardware Store which was the previous Lackey Hardware.
In 1945 Benjamin Edger Marler (b.1901-d.1985) opened the Marler Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth Auto dealership and the John Deere Tractor dealership on this north-east corner of Highway 35 and Highway 80. At that time, the dealership property also included the land that The Tractor Store is presently located. Benjamin’s son, James Archie Marler (b.1926-d.2012) started to work with his father at the Marler Auto Company in 1949. Then later, the Marler Auto Company was reorganized with Benjamin E. Marler and his son, James Archie Marler, as the principle owners. This business continued operating by James Archie Marler until 1987 when it was sold.
In 1928 and into the 1930s, this location was a vacant lot with no building on it.
