FHS mini-reunion

This will probably be of little interest to younger Bearcats, however, I decided to post it for the few older Bearcats who may know those of us involved. Yesterday (9/18) having been invited by my cousin, Jerry Singleton, Lt. Col. retired, to a monthly meeting of veteran officers at Mama Hamils in Madison I was very happy to see two Bearcats I've not seen in 61 years in one case and 65 years in the other. Clyde Morgan class of '58 who owns the weapons facility on I-20 and who lives in Brandon was the speaker. Clyde also is a retired Lt. Col. Clyde's wife Joanna Bigham Morgan also attended. Joanna, Clyde, Jerry and I had a mini-reunion after the formal meeting. As they say...a great time was had by all! Joanna is the daughter of Virgil Bigham who was the school superintendent of FHS for several years prior to 1954. He moved to the school system in Leland after school year 1953 (I think). Her older brother was Virgil, Jr. He played football through his 9th grade year then they moved. Clyde, along with Jimmy Lovett '57, were the two best snare drummers I've ever heard in a high school band. Clyde still plays at the age of 78!! All this to say it was wonderful to see and swap information with Bearcats not seen for a life time. I should end I think with the fact that I was privileged to be Joanna's escort to the Easter Parade in 1953 or so. It was a annual event in the old gym. Good news is she survived it and has had a wonderful marriage to Clyde for 47 years!! Grateful for the joy of that little reunion!!
