Not sure about that Robert. I have studied a little about Scott county and a whole bunch about the civil war (actually the official name of which was 'The War Of The Rebellion' not one in 500 people know that I bet ). I just quickly googled Forrest county and find it was founded in 1908, quite a good while after the the agreement of 1876 whereby the Republicans ended occupation and agreed to remove all union troops from the south in exchange for 20 southern electoral votes needed to give Rutherford Hayes the presidency. I figure that is why no one resisted naming a county after Forrest at that later time. Also A lot of what I said was my opinion, based on facts, of things that happened. But even what I said as my opinion can be solidly verified as probably happened.
