Dan Brantley, 79 , of Jackson died on August 12, 2021, from the Corona 19 virus at the VA Hospital in Jackson. Dan will be buried next to his late wife, Linda Wright FHS Class of 1962, in the Mississippi Veterans Cemetery in Newton, Mississippi on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Dan will be buried in a cardboard casket, according to Dan's wishes. Burial will be a private, family only burial. A memorial service for Dan will be held in late September at the Hillcrest Independent Methodist Church, with the Rev. Reggie Keeton officiating. Hillcrest is located south on Forest on Highway 35 across from the Forest Country Club. The date for his memorial is open, because Dan's daughter Danielle is in the hospital with the Corona 19 virus in Jackson. A date will be set when all family members can attend. Dan was the son of the late Reverend & Mrs. Jeff Brantley. Rev. Brantley was the pastor of the Forest Baptist Church from 1954 - 1963. Dan had four brothers , all who attended Forest High School. Jeff, Class of 1956; Tom, C/O 1964; Roy, C/O 1966; and James,C/O 1968. Dan was survived by his three daughters; Jennifer, Danielle, and Lydia and by eight grandchildren. Dan, like his Father, was an ordained Baptist minister. But Dan gained his greatest pleasure in life by working for the railroad. For Dan was a passionate lover of all things that had to do with railroad trains.
