Re: Jean Underwood Cox….FHS ‘65
The pianist and I gave the music director a list of duets that we worked on Thursday afternoon and she let Jean select what she wanted for the processional and recessional. She also requested that we play Amazing Grace during the service. Jean chose Majesty for the processional of the family and It Is Well with My Soul as the recessional. After we finished playing Majesty, there was applause from the attendees. That is the first time that I recall that happening at a funeral. The minister began his part of the service thanking us for that piece. He said that it made him feel as if he had entered the Gates of Heaven along with Sid. There was also applause after Amazing Grace. I'm not a fan of applause during a church service; however, I'm glad that they appreciated our preparation of those selections.
