Jim Lackey class of 1973 passed away September 17. He was 67 years old. There will be a graveside memorial for family and friends Friday, September 23 at 11:00 am at the Eastern Cemetery in Forest. He is survived by sisters Jennie and Julie and his father Jimmy Lackey. He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Lackey and a sister Joy Lackey.

Heart about him this morning, sad. I looked up to Jim like an older brother when I was in 8th grade and he a senior. Always had time to let me hang around. Condolences to Jimmy, Julie and Jenny. Went to the website to express my sympathy and sent flowers. Rest in Peace Little Jim.

Gathering of Friends and Family at 11am Friday, September 23, 2022, at Eastern Cemetery.
A graveside Memorial Service will be held at 11am Friday, September 23, 2022, at Eastern Cemetery in Forest, MS.
James Vernon Lackey, Jr. (Jim), 67, died Saturday, September 17, 2022 at home after a brief illness.
Jim was born December 12, 1954 to Jimmy and Josephine Lackey of Forest, Mississippi. After attending Forest High School and East Central Community College he was employed by MEMA. He later joined Lackey Home Center. After retirement, Jim pursued his hobby of photography at which he was so talented. His affection for his dogs Sally and Rufus and outdoor life was limitless.
Jim is survived by his father Jimmy Lackey (Carol) of Shelbyville, TN; two sisters, Julie Lackey of Madison, MS and Jenny Lackey Allen (Ted) of Brandon, MS; two nieces, Ann Elizabeth Simons of Atlanta, GA and Julie Claire Cook of Starkville, MS; three nephews, Lackey Simons, Judson Simons and Cline Cook all of Nashville, TN; two aunts Gay Davidson Barnett of Slidell, LA and Linda Lackey Lamar of Oxford, MS; and his longtime special friend, Christi Faulkner of Forest, MS.
He was preceded in death by his mother Josephine Barnett Lackey, his sister Joy Lynn Lackey and grandparents Irma and Bryan Barnett and Vera and Vern Lackey.

I am saddened about this. His mother was one of my teacher’s and I remember she stopped teaching when she married his dad. Prayers for his family!
