Hi Jess. Wow, what strange timing on your note. I was looking at that set just yesterday, getting ready to enter it in the club database. I don't know what to tell you that you don't already know, but here's what I know...
The set you have was available directly from Shell in 1993. Shell did several smoked glass sets in the early 70's. In fact, I think it was 1972 for one set because the champs are listed that year. Not sure on this point. Mobil had glasses available from approx 1986 to 1991. Some sets were full, some were not. At the time, it was believed the sets were not full due to incomplete national presence (or interest) of Mobil. In 1992, Mobil did a fountain set, again incomplete, but this time with Coke sponsorship. You had to trade to get all available glasses from different areas of the country. I remember being pleasantly surprised when I found in 1993 that I could order a complete set of 28 all at once from Shell. I still have the original box and just verified that it was indeed Shell, not Mobil that made the set. In fact, I still have the packing list with the box and can tell you it was filled by Hermann Marketing in St. Louis. I have not yet posted the pictures to the set due to the relative lack of popularity of sport sets compared to other areas from many collectors, but will get that done in a few weeks. Right now, the entries themselves are in the club database. Of course, since you have the full set, you already know which 28 teams were available at that time... There isn't much value in the set relatively speaking, but still, I think it's a great set of the full teams for that year.
