I went to some antique shops in the area last weekend, about the only glasses worth noting were 3 Flintstones glasses to add to my slowly (but surely) growing collection - now up to 425 different Flinstones Welchs glasses. I received a nice package from a fellow collector with about 50 Flintstones and was able to add about 15 or so of those to the collection as well. About the only other glass I was happy to find was a very obscure type glass, what I call "black and white cartoon" glass - probably from the 50's or sometimes 60's, with a single cartoon in black letters with a caption, on a frosted background. This one says "I love you too. Now shut up and sit down". These are usually in sets of 6 or 8,
this one has H Garner as the artist, and another more common artist is Steig (or is it Stieg?).
About the only version of this style that the collectors value is the Dennis the Menace set, which really uses the same style and comic scene treatment on the glasses.
I have got some great glasses in the last month, but they have all been from deals from other PGCA members, sent in the mail - Dick Tracy Dominos, 1st and 2nd little pig Disney in perfect condition, early Popeye boxing.
