Ok my view on this is, if a person breeds for color no matter the breed they are IMHO a BYB as that would not be breeding to better the breed because of good genes, pedigree, health testing ect...is the reason a breeding should be done Am I against "Blue, Black or Brown" AB's NO I am not as long as a dog can work and is to breed standards (forget about color for a moment) I do not see what the difference is. Black recently has been a huge issue I have been reading on many boards but again if the dog does what is should and meets the standards what is the problem? And yes I understand registries have thier standards and many take black & blue as a negative thing.
Simply your reason for using Blue Canon make sense to me and I agree something a little different is defianatly "icing" Now I also see where people will complain when it comes to Conformation Standards but you know what the standards for AB's change more then any breed I can think of at this moment so why not accept the "blue" as a reconized color?
NKC ~ Disqualification: Blue Color.
ARF ~ SHOW RING DISQUALIFICATION:
Flat Black or Blue color.
UKC ~ (As of Oct 09) solid Blue/black is a Disqualification if the dogs do not have 10% of white on them
ABRA ~ Color: Solid or varying degrees of white, all shades of brindle, brown, red, or tan are acceptable. Solid black, black and tan, and/or any degree of merle is unacceptable. A full black mask is not acceptable. **Merle is a dilution of overall body color (black or red) with splotches of darker color giving the effect of "merling" or "marbling" not to be confused with Brindle that gives the effect of "striping".
So if you want a dog for in the conformation ring the don't get a color they don't except but if you want a dog for working purposes then color is not an issue Although I am 100% againt Merle as there are heath issue conected to those from what I have read I am basing this as my opinion
