Mechanical fasteners !
Us home repair guys, fix-it types, machines, appliances, furniture, auto parts whatever before we throw it out, have another obstruction to our efforts I just learned.
Years ago the simple slotted screw '-' was standard, then a guy named Phillips had to change the screw head to an '+' so we all bought Phillips '+' screw drivers.
Next a guy named Allen invents a screw head that's recessed & 5 sided, we all bought Allen wrenches.
Not bad enough !! next came the auto industries 6 sided stardrive screw/bolt/whatever, Sears quickly gave us the tools to use on that.
I had to enlarge my pegboard by 4sq,ft. by now to hang all these friggen TOOLS !
Not enough though,(?) today I attempt to open a corded electric plug receptical & discover the stardrive screws have a tiny little verticle pin at center!!!!!!
So our stardrivers can't be used unless they too have a tiny little pinhole on the end to receive that damn screw PIN !!!
Nowhere have I seen those special holed nut/screw drivers for sale.
I'll go to Harbor Tools near our Mall tomorrow & see what they say = drill out the pin ?
