I needed help and called Comcast. After a minute or so, an agent came on the line and after listening to my problem, ran a test and decided that the box had to be replaced.
She offered to send a tech to my place with a new box or perhaps I might like to go to their new showroom, only about five miles away and get a new box. Being a " gotta have it now" kind of guy, I took the old cable box and drove to their new facility.
After a two minute wait, I was helped by a very friendly fellow who gave me a new box, setup instructions and lots of positive encouragement. I brought the new equipment home, followed the installation instructions and in 20 minutes was up and running.
Cable companies are routinely criticized but my most recent experience with Comcast was entirely positive. They did good. One question remains: I watch only about a dozen or so channels so why must I pay for a hundred channels I never watch?
