I'll be traveling solo as my Lady refuses to go. She's certain that the 9,000' altitude will lay her low and no amount of pleading or logic will changed her mind. I'll miss her, she's a wonderful companion, and she's perfectly bi-lingual. In fact, Spanish is her first language and my Spanish is next to nonexistent. Oh well, I'll manage.
Quito, being on the equator and high in the Andes, has comfortable temperatures the year 'round (50 to 70) and a few days spent away from the South Florida summertime steam bath is welcome.
Obtaining the local currency is easy. Ecuador uses Yankee Dollars exclusively, and I've already got some. The Spanish influence in the Old Town has been carefully preserved and I'm looking forward to exploring. Mitad Del Mundo is a beautiful park and museum that straddles the Equator and is worth half a day. A photo taken while standing on the Equator is a Kodak moment.
I'll be back early next week. Y'all be cool.
