Thank you, Elle, this is what I keep yapping about. I don't know about other states, but I do know about California because my son became disabled in mid-life, could no longer work, and could no longer pay for his hospitalization insurance. He was given Medi-CAL, which is through the State of California for those with low income or no income. In his case, it was due to full disability. Due to his particular situation, he will not be able to get Medicaid, which is Federal, until he is 65. Medicaid is better than Medi-CAL, but he is not eligible. So he has MEDI-CAL coverage, but what does that mean? It means someone with as severe a problem as he has, including a brain tumor, had to wait 9 months for an MRI. If it had been malignant, he would have died. But it was benign. That's the only reason he is here today. When Obama expanded Medicaid, it affected Medi-CAL too, and it meant that there were more people with "coverage." But it doesn't mean they get the care it's supposed to represent. It takes even longer today than it did before Obamacare.
I've been feeling headachy with other related symptoms for several months. I finally decided I needed to check it out. I called my doctor's office last week, I got to see him in 2 days. I will have bloodwork results in 48 hours. I already have a prescription for an MRI, and it's me, not them, that's putting off scheduling it due to a head cold. This is because of my unbelievably wonderful health insurance. My son, with a brain tumor and progressive, neurological disease that fully disables him had to wait 9 months!
