Re: Contract on property... Carol
I spent a couple of weeks in and around the Nashville area in 2004, and was very disappointed in the general vibes. With the exception of a fellow we met who was actually from Nevada originally, I found just about everyone cold, insular, and many around the tourist areas into bad stuff. We were in what I thought was a decent neighborhood, in a better motel, but there was drugs and prostitution going on in the next room, and people in both motels who approached us asking if we wanted to buy "hot" stuff. We left for another motel run by Indians, they were the least customer service-oriented people, came into our room when we weren't there and took the internet cable "because someone else wanted it." We ended up staying there for most of the time because at least it was family-run, we didn't see drugs or prostitution as in the first one, but they were in no way gracious hosts. Cold as ice. But so were the Nashville natives. We ate at pricier restaurants for dinner, empty, quiet, boring, unconnected. The only place I enjoyed was breakfast at Cracker Barrel, peopled and lively, with fun stuff on the walls and great gifts. I pretty much found similar attitudes in Arkansas, in some situations downright hostility (the V.A. in Fayetteville, damn place should be investigated). The minute you get into Oklahoma the whole vibe changes. I love Oklahoma and its people, but was not impressed one iota with Tennessee. While I was there I did genealogy research, Bob's direct line spent from 1811 to 1858 in Middle Tennessee, and there are still distant relatives there today, cold-eyed and suspicious, LOL.
