You're right. the beauty found around us here in the Rocky Mountain State more than makes up for the aggressive drivers. They don't bother me that much... I just wave them by. The tailgaters make me nervous, though.
But, you know, I wouldn't move out of Colorado for all the money in the world. I used to vacation with a friend whose family had a 100 year old cabin up in Green Mountain Falls. Those summers were the best of my life.
I moved to kansas after graduating from Colorado School of Mines. It took me 15 years to get back!
I realized that I had to set up a 5285 foot base camp after I went to a GWTA rally in buena vista from Wichita and spent the whole time with altitude sickness. That's no way to live. The only place i wanted to go on vacation when i lived in kansas was the Rockies, and I ended up in bed, and sick as a dog.
The things that grated on me about Kansas was:
1. Unbelievably high property taxes. No, really, they are absurd.
2. Endless, non stop... ever-blowing winds. They were beginning to make me crazy. I mean it.
Now, I'm here in parker. got a couple acres at 9500ft up in Gilpin County (email me if you're interested in camping there)
