I'll take Colorado over Kansas anyday!!!
I was born and raised in Wichita, joined the USAF to see the world and they sent me BACK to Wichita and stuck me underground in a cow pasture!
Don't get me started about the property taxes for nothing of value back there.
And the drivers here?? They're all from Kansas, or Texas, or California. The Colorado drivers are great!!!
Now about those dangers.
Be sure to read the link that Dave so thoughtfully put in regarding altitude sickness.
Drink LOTS of water, you will dehydrate much faster than you think.
Rocks on the road in the rockies. What is up sometimes comes down, especially in the spring.
You can be crankin around some mountainous curves and be in a rock field on the road before you know it.
Some of our group was just a few minutes short of a rock slide last year at RG. Fortunatly they were on bikes and were able to navigate around the boulders. The rest of the traffic had to wait for the CDOT bulldozer to clear the road.
Take your time, the views are jaw dropping spactacular. Just make sure you stay on the road or your jaw won't be the only thing that drops.
Above all ride safe and enjoy the trip!!
Has Janet tried out the trike yet?? Congrats on that great buy!!
