((panic mode right now -- the GL1800riders.com site is down -- always scary))
A couple of new updates on the Rockies-Gold web site. On the opening page I have added information on Davis Service Center (bottom of the page). If you think you will need some tires while in Montrose, it would be a good idea to give them a yell in advance -- all of the information is give on the web page. I am in contact with Lincoln Davis to see if they will be doing anything special for us. Last year they had coffee and donuts every morning and almost no one showed up (the employees gained 10 pounds), so it may be something different this year. Check out the opening R-G 2008 web page.
Also the Group Bike Photo on Friday morning, 6 June, will be at Dallas Divide at 8am sharp, so folks will need to depart the motels by around 7:15am. If the weather cooperates this should make for some great photos. Check out the R-G Group Photo web page for additional information, map, etc. We will also do a rider photo at Dallas Divide also; then again another group shop at the Hangin' at the Red Arrow, probably about 7PM on Friday evening. By-the-way, I checked with the Colorado DOT to confirm that the pull-off area at Dallas Divide was not closed and would be open for our photo-shot.
The registrations and cancellations/changes have settled down, so I believe that we are pretty close to seeing those who will be attending unless there is a last minute change for them.
As I indicated earlier, the banners turned out really nice and will be flying from the railings at the Red Arrow (hey, it is the HQ this year). During the week before the event I will also be printing the name tags -- I already have all of the name tags, holders, and lanyards.
I have also contact the Montrose Police to let them know that we will be in town and asking them to be gentle any of us screw-up -- hopefully everyone will be on their best behaviour. I have also contacted VisitMontrose, Chamber of Commerce, and the Merchants Association to let them know that we will be in town, and with the latter to see if they might have an special packages for us.
Also, as last year, there will be a can at the Red Arrow for folks to make donations to cover expenses -- there have been a few more this year. You don't have to give, but $5 per person would be appreciated to cover expenses.
I will be putting out an initial e-mail update to all attendees in early May and then follow-up with one more just prior to Rockies-Gold.
