We have a Mallory Super Mag III on our car and it drives the shift light. You have to be careful of EMI/RFI affecting the light and use Taylor resistor plug wires. Also with the Mallory, factory support is non-existent so you have to use a third party like Zig for help. They also dont have a crank trigger system. If I had it to do over, I would use an MSD 12amp mag. The Mallory is somewhat cheaper though.
We also use a small motorcycle battery to drive the TB, tach and pan evac system.
