Posted by Dave in Vallejo on July 22, 2006, 9:39 pm, in reply to "Re: Dacrydium" Thanks for the welcome. I used to see you in garden web in the conifer section when I was a member. I have 7 Dacrydiums (6 in the ground): cuppressinum, araucarioides, lycopodioides, beccarii, balansae, a New Guinea species, and a weird thing that might be a natural hybrid between araucarioides and guillaumini. I have the NZ and the NC Dacrycarpus. Don't seem to have good luck with Phylloclades (have the dwarf Tasmanian species, but it's suffering, esp. in this heat). I have a ton of Podocarpus sp. . . . can't remember them all. Most do well for me, although P. novae-caledonica and fasciculus tend to develop nutritional issues that require prompt attention. Aracuarias: columnaris, luxurians, rulei, nemorosa, montana, muelleri, cunninghamii, araucana, hunsteinii, angustifolia, and a couple of others. I have a variety of Agathis as well. I also have a number of Angiosperms as well as the above assorted Gymnosperms. Nothofagus (all the NZ species, cunninghamii, moorei, betuloides, dombeii, and xLeonii. And assorted other goodies as well. I look forward to reading about others' experiences growing this wonderful flora in the Northern Hemisphere.
