I see. Would no crepe myrtle reach arborescent proportions in Cincy? Even the newer supposedly hardier hybrids? Well that makes me feel better about the climate at my new house near the upper Chessie Bay, because my neighbor has a huge pink crepe myrtle in his yard that looks like the bog standard old pink variety. But it's not like the lower bay here...cooler in summer and winter. Even around Yorktown, Virginia in mild years Oleanders were hardy. That won't be the case around here. They are 7b, we are 7a. On the other hand our town has huge rhododedrons, and there is a fir tree in my yard.
