That might have come out sounding the wrong way hahaha. I guess I just meant that crape myrtles are zn 7a indicator plants.
Sounds like you are enjoying Portland...it was a good place for you to move because you won't struggle with having arborescent eucs anymore. Also I'm sure Jubaeas and Jubaea X Butias, and maybe even ButiaXSyagrus would thrive there.
I'd be trying all of those if I had the climate because I think they are much more tropical looking, and attractive, that the other "hardy" palms.
