Posted by Ian, Poulsbo WA on November 7, 2006, 11:45 am I'm curious to know how many Grevilleas UCSC kills. I have read in several places that G. willisii is growing there but I have never managed to find it in several trips to UCSC. Then I could have sworn they had two forms of G. laurifolia and now I can only find one. That is really a shame as I suspect some of the more montane species are dying out because UCSC is too hot and dry. I wish there was some program in place whereby they could make it to the PNW before they are just given up on and lost to cultivation in the US. By the end of my trip I had more than 90 plants in the car including 61 1 gallon plants packed into my volvo wagon. All were in fine shape when I unpacked them

I was fortunate enough to visit UCSC last Tuesday and I bought 22 plants in their garden store (hehehe) and quite a few more at Sierra Azul Nursery. I am most excited about some of the Grevilleas I got including G. riparia, G. 'Poorinda Blondie' and two nice forms of G. lanigera. Also got G. 'Wakiti Sunrise' but I don't think it will be very hardy. I was disappointed not to find Grevillea x gaudichaudii anywhere on my trip, though. Does anyone have this plant and could send a few cuttings?
Also got lots of other things like Banksia 'Schnapper Point', some nice purple leafed Leptos, Leucadendrons, and more.
