Posted by GleninSurrey on January 4, 2007, 7:22 am I noticed the leaves had some dark colouration after the cold snap...they got to about -6C in my unheated greenhouse...but were kept dry. I thought the only problem was usually moisture that caused this rot...can anyone guess if the problem is cold, in which case these aren't as likely outdoors here as I'd hoped? Also, will these plants now die having totally lost their centres...seems like the bases near the roots are still firm and green, but can they regrow without that central growth point...

My yearling puya seedlings (unknown spp from Ray Brown wild collection) have suffered recently from rot in their centres. Leaves on almost half of them are pulling out, with brown rot at their bases even though the exposed part of the leaf looks okay.
